Ignite Your Inner Light

Igniting Faith Through Stories

How to Start a Fire: And keep it lit.
How to Start a Fire began as a simple idea — a small, almost playful attempt to explain something meaningful to your kids and, one day, your grandkids. But as you wrote, you realized you weren’t just teaching how to build a literal fire. You were trying to explain something you had spent your whole life wrestling with: how God lights a spark inside a person, and how easily we can smother it, ignore it, or hide it. This book became your way of saying: “This is how God ignited me.” “This is how I learned to protect what He gave me.” “This is how I stopped hiding my light.” “This is how you can find your spark too.” You wrote it because you finally understood that the fire inside you wasn’t random. It wasn’t a hobby. It wasn’t a phase. It wasn’t a mistake. It was God’s fingerprint. And you wanted to give your children — and their children — a way to understand that truth without preaching, without pressure, without fear. You wanted to give them a story that felt warm, simple, and honest… but carried a deeper truth beneath the surface. How to Start a Fire uses the steps of building a real fire — spark, tinder, structure, fuel, oxygen, protection — to reveal the spiritual steps of building a life: how to recognize the spark God gives you how to protect it from the winds of doubt how to feed it with truth and goodness how to remove what smothers it how to let it grow into something steady and bright It’s a book about identity. About purpose. About the quiet flame inside every person. About the God who lights it. And about the courage it takes to let it burn. You wrote it because you didn’t want your kids — or your grandkids — to spend their lives hiding their gifts the way you did. You wrote it because you finally understood the parable of the talents in your bones. You wrote it because you were tired of being a lamp in a drawer. You wrote it because God wouldn’t let you stay small anymore. This book is your way of passing the torch. A guide. A parable. A legacy. A spark for the next generation. And at its core, How to Start a Fire is your confession and your invitation: “God lit something in me. I want to help you find what He lit in you.”
The Fire Inside: Why do I have to be Good?
The Fire Inside is the story I didn’t know I was writing until God showed me what it really was. I thought I was creating a simple story — something warm, something fun, something I could one day read to my grandkids. But as the words came out, I realized I was writing about something I had spent my whole life avoiding: the fire God placed in me that I kept trying to hide. This book is about the moment you finally stop pretending you don’t feel the spark. It’s about the moment you stop burying your talent. It’s about the moment you stop being the lamp in the drawer. It’s about the moment you stop shrinking to make everyone else comfortable. It’s about the moment you finally say: “God, I know You lit something in me. I’m done hiding it.” The Fire Inside is a story of awakening — not the loud, dramatic kind, but the quiet, holy kind that sneaks up on you in the middle of real life. It’s fatherhood. It’s Scripture. It’s wrestling with God. It’s the ache of wanting to leave something meaningful behind. It’s the realization that the fire inside you isn’t for you alone — it’s meant to warm others, guide others, and light the way for the ones who come after you. This book is my confession: I spent years dimming myself. Years burying what God gave me. Years pretending I didn’t hear Him calling me to more. And it’s also my declaration: I’m done hiding. I’m done shrinking. I’m done burying my gift. I’m letting the fire burn. The Fire Inside is for anyone who has ever felt that spark — that tug, that whisper, that quiet burning — and wondered if it was real. It’s for the ones who feel called but unqualified. It’s for the ones who feel lit but scared. It’s for the ones who know God put something inside them… but don’t know how to let it out. This story is my way of saying: “You’re not alone. Your fire matters. And it’s time to let it burn.”
God's Firewall: a 30 day Journey
God’s Firewall was born in the middle of a season where I was trying to build a cybersecurity business. I was studying threats, vulnerabilities, intrusion points, protection layers — all the ways we defend systems from attacks. I was learning how to keep networks safe, how to filter out what doesn’t belong, how to guard what matters. And in the middle of all that technical training, God interrupted me with a question that hit harder than anything I was studying: “What about their hearts? That’s far more important.” That moment stopped me cold. Because I realized something: I was learning how to protect computers… while ignoring how unprotected people’s hearts were. I was studying firewalls… while my own spiritual defenses were full of holes. I was learning how to block malware… while letting lies, fear, shame, and distraction slip into my own life without resistance. That’s when the metaphor hit me. A firewall is just the modern language for the full armor of God. Filters = discernment Threat detection = spiritual awareness Access control = boundaries Intrusion prevention = truth System integrity = identity in Christ Logs = self-examination Updates = renewing your mind It all lined up. It all made sense. It all felt like God saying, “Use what you’re learning — but use it for Me.” God’s Firewall became the story of that realization. It’s a modern parable about the spiritual defenses God builds around us — not to make us fearful, but to make us strong. It’s about the lies that try to slip in. The wounds that open doors. The habits that weaken us. The truth that protects us. The grace that shields us. The Holy Spirit who guards the flame inside us. It’s the book where your fire metaphor meets your cybersecurity training. Where your wrestling meets your calling. Where your technical mind meets your spiritual heart. You wrote it because you finally understood: The enemy isn’t after our computers. He’s after our identity, our purpose, our fire. And God doesn’t just ignite that fire — He protects it. He surrounds it. He guards it. He strengthens it. God’s Firewall is your way of helping people build those defenses — not out of fear, but out of wisdom. Not out of paranoia, but out of purpose. Not out of self-reliance, but out of trust in the One who stands guard. This book is your invitation to others: “Let God protect the fire He placed inside you. Guard what comes in. Guard what goes out. And let your flame burn pure.”
